Welcome to the Cabarrus Quilters Guild. We are so glad you decided to visit.
The Guild currently has approximately 67 members who share a common interest in the art of quilting. Our members have varied levels of experience and expertise, so don’t feel like you have to be an expert to become a member of the Guild. Everyone is welcome and all of our members will be happy to share with you their love and knowledge of quilting.
We meet on the second Monday of each month. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Our meetings are held at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church located at 4815 State Highway 49, Harrisburg, NC 28075.
As a visitor, you are invited to attend two meetings as a guest. After two visits we hope that you will be excited by what you see happening here and will decide to become a member.
The Guild operates on a full year calendar which begins in January. Membership dues are $35.00 per year, beginning at the January business meeting. For those joining after the July meeting, dues will be prorated to $17.50 for the remainder of the year. In addition, there is a one-time charge of $5.00 for your name badge. Our newsletter is delivered electronically by e-mail.
As a non-profit group of quilters, we believe in giving back to our community. Each year, three local charities will be voted on and chosen as our sponsored interests. In 2022, these charities were as follows: Cooperative Christian Ministry (CCM), relieves hunger and food insecurity and addresses homelessness and housing crisis in our community; Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network (CVAN), a local organization which provides assistance to victims of abuse or neglect; and Cabarrus County Foster Care which provides temporary protection and care for children who must live apart from their biological family due to abuse, neglect or dependency. Guild members are required to make and donate a minimum of one comfort quilt each year to one of the aforementioned charities. As a member, you will also be required to sell (or buy) twenty-five (25) raffle tickets for our raffle quilt each year. A portion of the ticket sales is given to CVAN.
In addition to our charitable commitment, we participate in other worthwhile endeavors as guild members present requests to the guild. These include making teddy bears for Victory Junction, port pillows for chemo patients, and blocks/quilts for Quilts of Valor.
We work very hard to provide interesting programs during our guild meetings and to schedule workshops each month. Our speakers include well known area quilters and quilting teachers as well as members of our guild. During each year there are a number of guild projects for member participation such as Block of the Month, Row by Row, Round Robins, Mystery Quilt, and Guild Challenges. We have a Show and Tell segment at each meeting for members to share their latest creations.
Thank you again for visiting and we hope you decide to join us.
